On the Measure of Intelligence

2019
Francois Chollet

TLDR: My short version is that intelligence is not just getting a high score on a fixed benchmark. It is more about how well a system can adapt to genuinely new problems.

Why I care: This is one of the papers that keeps showing up if you care about ARC, generalization, and what we even mean by reasoning in the first place.

World models, artificial general intelligence and the hard problems of life–mind continuity

2026
Adam Safron et al.

TLDR: A very high-level but compelling map of connected research paths, from world models and the “easy” and “hard” problems of AI in science to consciousness, collective intelligence, and self-modelling systems.

Why I care: It brings these themes together at a higher level and opens up many interesting directions to explore.

This is basically my scratchpad for papers. I want short TLDRs in my own words here, plus whether I already read the paper and whether it felt important.
